If you’re looking for a delicious and nutritionally packed gluten-free cracker, Crunchmaster multi-seed crackers are a worthy version.
At 140 calories for 15 crackers with no trans fat, .5 grams of saturated fat they offer no issues for those with cholesterol or heart disease concerns. Throw in 20 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, 3 grams of protein and no sugar at all and they meet the threshold of a decent processed food made from gluten-free grains.
They’re certified gluten free and comprised of brown rice flour, sesame, quinoa, flax and amaranth seeds (thus the protein), potato starch, safflower oil, tamari soy sauce powder, maltodextrin and salt, a short list of ingredients compared to most commercial crackers.
They make a wonderful lunch with tuna salad or smoked salmon accompanied by homemade soup. Or they can take pride of place on an appetizer platter topped with herbed goat cheese spread or a dollop of crab dip. Their crunch and deep savory flavor hold up to almost any accoutrement. They also travel well, and can stand in for the wheat-filled crackers served in airline meal packages.
A small note of warning — the crackers are produced in a plant that also processes wheat, so if you suffer from celiac disease you might want to be cautious.
Otherwise, they’re a delicious, generally nutritious cracker good for every day meals and parties alike.
