Are you gluten-free and looking for a mate?
As internet dating becomes more common, online match-up sites are becoming more particular. So it should come as no surprise that an entrepreneurial minded, gluten-free gal came up with the notion of pairing gluten-free folks with each other.
Marcella Romaya co-founded GlutenfreeSingles.com because she saw many of her gluten-free friends having a hard time connecting with like-minded people. Some people choose the gluten-free diet, but for many others, it’s a matter of necessity – if you have celiac disease or are gluten intolerant, dining out can be a health hazard.
And that can make finding the right someone all the more difficult. “After doing some research and… trying to find a dating site, we found nothing,” Romaya said. “So we found there was a need for gluten-free people to connect and to spread awareness about celiac disease.”
Romaya said it’s easier to date a person with the same dietary restrictions because it enables you to focus on each other, not your food limitations.
“You can order the same foods, you can share the same meal…and you can focus on your chemistry.”
Dating in the gluten-free world just got a little simpler.
